Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Since then—through our membership in 1% For The Planet®—we’ve donated over $74 million in cash to thousands of community-based groups working to create positive change for the planet in their own backyards. As a company that uses resources and produces waste, we recognize our impact on the environment and feel a responsibility to give back. For us, it’s not charity or traditional philanthropy. It’s part of the cost of doing business. We call it our Earth Tax.

When KEEN started in 2003 they made a promise to themselves. If the little shoe with a big toe bumper ever caught on, things would be done differently—they had the chance to act on that inspiration quickly. With only a year of business under their belt, KEEN already had a history of supporting good causes.

Osprey is proud of the strides we have made to lessen our impact upon the planet and tread lightly. Our commitment to be an outdoor industry leader in sustainability, environmental and social concerns is taken seriously, tempered by an honest realization that though we have accomplished much, there is still much more to be done. |
